GUESS WHAT I HAVE!!!!

ARCs of PROPHECY!

So pretty! So shiny!

Look! There I am on the back cover!  Completely unexpected, btw.

Now don't get all excited at seeing the pile of ARCs. Almost every single one of them is promised to someone important, leaving me with just one to giveaway. But not just yet! I'm working on some bookmarks and bagging up those adorable little Korean keychains that I plan on giving away. So keep an eye out for a giveaway in the next few weeks!

In the meantime, Diverse Energies, the Tu anthology that my short story is in, has a cover!

Pretty neat, huh? The book is out October 2012 and my short story, The Last Day, is the first story in the anthology. So you have to read it! ;o)

Catching up!

So last week I went to Seattle for my annual agency retreat. It was my first time, having missed two earlier ones. But now that I've gone to one, I'm sorry I didn't go previously. Not only do you get to hang out and learn more industry business stuff from your agents, but you also meet and connect with other agency clients. And on top of it all, Seattle is a beautiful city.

I'm not sure I believe all those people who say Seattle has bad weather most of the time. I was there 4 days and the weather was perfect every single day. Plus there was this fantastic little Vietnamese restaurant near my hotel that was delicious and really cheap! One of the best Bahn Mi sandwiches I've had and it cost me only $3.50! I would have taken a picture of it but I ate it too fast! Seattle is definitely a city I want to go back to with the family.

I'm currently working on making bookmarks and other promotional stuff for my book. And I'll have a brand new website rolling out later this month. I've been working with an incredible web designer, Denise Biondo who I can't speak highly enough about! Not only is she wonderful to work with, she is so extremely talented!

Lastly, we are doing a massive giveaway over at the Friday the Thirteeners and you should go check it out for a chance to win 13 awesome books.

I think that is all for now!

The Drumming in my Head

When people talk about music playlists that they wrote their book too, I always pause and think about how I could explain what my own personal playlist is. I'm a very moody writer. Sometimes I want to write where there's lots of background noise and people moving around. Sometimes I have to write in complete solitude. Sometimes I need music and sometimes I need quiet.

But there was an underlying musical theme that was always there in the back of my head as I wrote. And it is simply drums.

Drums are such a huge part of Korean culture that it is definitely an influence in my writing. But, the two drumming scenes I had in my book were both cut out in revision. That's ok. While it wasn't integral to the plot of my story, drums were a big part of what played in my head as I wrote it. So here are some video clips of some awesome Korean drums. I hope you enjoy them!
