Lord the air smells good..

Feeling blue so I am reposting an old post with my favorite picture and poem.

Lord, the air smells good...
by Rumi

Lord, the air smells good today,
straight from the mysteries
within the inner courts of God.
A grace like new clothes thrown
across the garden, free medicine for everybody.
The trees in their prayer, the birds in praise,
the first blue violets kneeling.
Whatever came from Being is caught up in being, drunkenly
forgetting the way back.

  4. Oh, I love Rumi. Have a big old collection of it. I hope it soothes you as much as it does me, and you're feeling better soon!

  5. Don't let the bastards wear you down. Whoever they may be, though I ahve an idea as I think we are waging the same battle right now.

  6. Travis, I'm not sure that's true as I don't recall lobbing any grenades in your direction.

No, this was just a joke so don't everyone jump on my back!

Ello, don't sweat it. You're due for some good karma ... especially since you've stepped it up in the mornings this week! Yes, I do appreciate it.

  7. don't feel blue!!

i'd send you a poem, but all the poems i know are about break-ups. which, while entertaining, are irrelevant. funny, that.

    instead, i'll write you one.

    roses are red,
    violets are blue,
    virtual sushi and
    karaoke for you!
    and gobdolbibimbap
    and chicken tikka masala
    and banana cream pie
    and some gin.

  8. Beautiful picture and wonderful words.

Hope that the blues take their leave pretty soon and that optimistic yellows and energetic greens swoop in and take their place. Keep the faith - we've all got the utmost of faith in you.

  9. Thanks everyone! I actually do feel better, and everyone's kindness helps alot. I think a pretty picture and poem also helps put things in perspective. And today is a much better day so I'm not even blue anymore. But I will leave this up for now cause it is so pretty.

Moonie - you made me so hungry!

  11. It's okay, Ello. Just think of one of your many, many funny stories. Or go look at that commercial on my announcement post in August...lol. You'll definitely giggle. ;-)

  12. I'm glad you're feeling better today, hon! "Blue" and "Ello" just don't go together. You're too busy taking names and kicking ass. ;)

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pic and poem, though. It makes me feel like celebrating the last days of summer.

  13. I love this poem too! It's on my wall in fact. Rumi is good stuff. I read Hafiz too...'nother good one I recommend if you don't already have him. There's one called "two puddles chatting' that is really sweet and very uplifting in a way. Cheer up and have a great weekend.

  16. Well I took a peek at your profile and we have so much in common - except I love Country Western music.

Who doesn't love Johnny Cash and Hurt?

My husband loves opera. In fact he's been reading Opera for Dummies. Plus we just went to Phantom - I know it's not really opera, and one of my husband's favorites is Andrea Bocelli

  19. Sorry you're in a funk! But rest assured that it will pass. They always do, thank goodness!

You have until Monday night to enter my contest, by the way. I decided to extend the deadline.

  20. There are some poems that need to be read as many times as possible. This is one of them.

Be blue, if you need to, but I'm so glad you are not in the blue anymore!

We're all here to send some virtual hugs to you!

  22. I embrace feeling blue. I crave it. Sadness helps me put passion and authenticity into my work.
But know, Ello, that there are people who read your blog and enjoy what you write.
    Like me.
    Aloha!
