Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
Dreams
by Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.
As long as you can dream, the dream has a chance to come true.

Thanks for this Ellen, it really made my day. :D
I've been a fan of Langston Hughes for a long time myself. Good words.
Perfect Ellen...and you are such a strong example to fighting the good fight for any and all dreams. ;)
Ah, I like those. Reminded me of Elvis's If I Can Dream (yes am lowbrow :)
