Random Funny Things My Kids Say - Part 30

Da Man was a good daddy and chaperoned her field trip to the Museum of Natural History this week. He's also going on Youngest's field trip to the National Gallery of Art tomorrow. He is building up some serious brownie points. I may have to actually cook a favorite meal for him... Or hey Paca offered to make some dumplings and ship em right Paca? ;o)

Anyway, lately he has begun to read more books and he picked up Cindy Pon's Silver Phoenix at my insistence. As you all know, Cindy has a beautiful girl poised provocatively on the cover, however Da Man is not fazed by this and has been reading it on the metro.

The other day he nearly forgot his book on the kitchen table and he asked Angus to bring it down to him. She grabbed Silver Phoenix, looked at the cover and said, "This one? With the girl on the cover? I thought it was Mommy's book!"

Da Man said, "Yeah, but just because there's a girl on the cover doesn't mean a guy can't read it."

To which Angus responded, "I know that, I'm just surprised you're reading a book!"

Har Har! Still in keeping with Asian Heritage Celebrations, I want to thank all of you for turning me into a drooling ravenous fiend yesterday unable to decide between Indian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Asian fusion cuisine. So instead, I had Italian.

But tomorrow I shall post a recipe for Mckoala! I just gotta make sure it's edible first...

One last question - if you had to pick a starch, what would you pick, rice or noodle?

That is a tough one. I would have said brown rice, but lately I've had a craving for Pad Thai (thank you Madam Mam's in Austin), so I'll have to say noodles.

Your kiddos are hilarious - love that Angus! :)

Jana, has been doing a marathon reading this morning. She's all over blogospehere. :D

Angus is so damn cute. She reminds me quite a lot of my lil' cousin. Quite a handful she is too. :D

Still waiting for my copy of Silver Phoenix. Damn that 45 day shipping.

As for your question: I'll pick rice. One for each so far. We are not exactly helping are we? lol

Also, Do you know about Antigravity Cats?

If not then you MUST read this:

Trust me, you'll thank me after this. :D :D

I'm probably gonna post on it on my blog anyway. But no harm giving you a head start. :)

Um, yeah. Shipped Mandoo. It could work!

I've been doing those field trips as well near the end of the school year, but we just went to the zoo, which is literally across the street, and a shopping center.

Hard call. I've declared multiple times that I could live off of rice and a good sauce for a year. At the same time, I love me some la mian (Chinese ramen), chao fun, and all. I also love the dumplings.... I guess I'll go with the noodle.

Rice.

Yes, yes, yes!

I like both; perhaps with a mild preference for noodles.

Da Man was a good daddy and chaperoned her field trip to the Museum of Natural History this week.My first thought here, for about half a second after I read it, was "A week long field trip! Whoa, awesome!" Hehehe! Well, it would have been awesome, right? :D

On the starch question, I'm definitely a rice person. I eat rice for probably half a dozen meals a week, at least. It's so versatile, you can throw just about anything into it. I like it half and half white/brown rice sometimes too, or sometimes half and half rice/lentils. Then mix in different veggies -- peas and corn are good, and a complete protein. Chopped spinach is yummy too. I had chopped spinach and little pieces of bacon mixed in with my rice a couple of days ago -- awesome stuff. :) Oh, and cooking it in chicken broth instead of water is also very yummy.

HAHA!!

(BTW, my husband is not as cool as yours when it comes to reading books with girls on covers. I am considering taking off the slip jacket and seeing if that will make him read Silver Phoenix...)

If I thought my doctor was reading this I'd have to say brown or wild rice. But I suppose as long as we're just talking and not eating, I gotta go with the noodles.

Better yet, can I go with none of the above? Since the doctor broke up my long running relationship with the noodle I've had a couple dishes with quinoa I really liked.

I'd have to pick noodles over rice most of the time, even though rice is much better for you (at least the brown stuff is).

Oh, man. I likes rice and noodles. I like to alternate!
Adorable pic of Angus!!! She is soo darn cute plus what a fun picture!
Good for your hubby to be manly enought to read YA with a female heroine!

Noodles all the way! But that must be my Italian heritage talking...

Good for Da Man in breaking down stereotypes.

And I choose noodle.

This is a tough one! But I'll go for rice.

And if you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have these frozen gyoza dumplings--not exactly mandoo, but they'll do in a pinch if you pan fry them or add them to soup.

Da Man is racking up points for reading Silver Phoenix on the metro! Impressive!

I'd love to read Silver Phoenix. It sounds great. And I'm more of a rice person :)

Noodles! Kids are great, aren't they? I wish I'd made a note of some of my children's sayings.

If you read crime fiction, please come over to my blog and check out my Virtual Book Launch. Everyone's welcome.

Totally halarious picture! I guess for me it would depend on the type of rice and noodle. Yeah, I picky. I love Korean sticky rice the best.

Aha, finally more rice supporters are dropping in.

As they say, When you are hungry and want to eat 2000 of something, Rice is the thing for you. :D

I want Pad Thai too!

Noodles, definitely. :)))

I can't imagine life without rice.

On the other hand, I can't imagine life without pasta - think eating scenes from Godfather II and Goodfellas and tell me they don't get you hankerin' for some pasta and a chunk of bread!

Therefore so as to not tilt the race one way or another, I vote rice noodles.

i'd have to pick rice. as much as i love pasta and noodles and pho and all that good jazz. rice will always be king.

Mmmmmm.....noodles. I love noodles. Any shape. Any kind. Any flavor. They are all so delicious. One of humankind's greatest inventions. Even my kids agree with me on that one.

I know I'm too late and actually my vote won't change anything but if you put a bowl of rice and a bowl of noodles in front of me I'd prefer eating the noodles but my body much prefers digesting the rice. So for the whole process - I'd have to say rice.
