The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

This cover is just absolutely beautiful! So stunning that when I first saw it I literally gasped in admiration! But more importantly, the story within the covers is lyrical and thrilling and chilling and just as beautiful as its cover. I'm so happy to share my friend April Tucholke's cover for BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA.

You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…

Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town…until River West comes along. River rents the guesthouse behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard. Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more? Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery...who makes you want to kiss back. Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.

Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch.
I love this book so very much! It's coming out on August 15, 2013 from Dial so please make a note and get ready to be blown away by this marvelous debut!

Such a gorgeous cover. I love the setting and typography. I've already made a note of it, but didn't realize the release was a day before my birthday. I guess I'm in for a long wait. So jealous you already read it :-D

I think this cover rocks. And since I've read the book, I know that rocks, too! Yay, April!

I've been following Ms. Tucholke's career for awhile now and she strikes me as eccentric and a bit of an "internet recluse," and the kind of person who wears hyper trendy eyewear.

But I guess I'll still read her book. Even if people say she dabbles in the occult and seems to be convinced someone is poisoning her. Because devils and rotting mansions and the sea--that's good stuff.

Altho - I wish you had an avatar! I'd love to get a hint of what an Altho Pluckier looks like!

I, Altho, am tall and darkly handsome, though my features betray hints of world weariness and unrequited love.

I do believe, were she to meet me, that this mysterious, poison-paranoid AG Tucholke would find my rugged charms impossible to deny. But I have wooed reclusive authors before, and it hasn't ended well.

Still. Her book sounds gothically pleasant. I will probably buy it, come Aug 15, 2013.
